Ephor’s “Board of One” Concept

Being a CEO Entrepreneur in the current economy is almost an impossible job. There are literally not enough hours to work on everything. Consider that an ideal “Highly Skilled CEO Entrepreneur” needs to:

  • Be a great evaluator and effective recruiter of talent

  • Be respected and admired both internally and externally

  • Build a high-performance workforce and supervisory team

  • Constantly learn and adapt to industry trends and changes

  • Empower the executive team to overcome business model and business processes deficiencies

  • Oversee budgeting, planning, and strategic finance

  • Ensure that the Executive Team has minimal turnover over any two-year period

  • Understand operating and financial performance at all times and have plans in place for any potential gaps, bottlenecks or setbacks

Being a successful leader requires many of the fundamental gifts and talents of an entrepreneur such as: passion and confidence, the ability to build and lead a team, creativity, and inspiration. Some entrepreneurs are natural leaders. If they can overcome overzealous control behaviors, adhere to a core set of values and principles to present themselves as “True Professionals,” and achieve access to the right skill and resource support, they can emerge as successful “Highly Skilled CEO Entrepreneurs”.

The “Board of One” concept enables entrepreneurs to get a professional’s outside influence to refresh their business and its core idea (that may have stagnated) and transform the business into a “real” business, while validating and credentializing it and allowing it to grow and expand. However, what is of utmost importance is a competent, experienced, and proven executive who shepherds the business toward becoming a transformational participant with sector impact.
